Large yurt tour Travel Route: Ulaanbaatar – Terelj – Khogno Khan uul – Kharkhorin – Orkhonwasserfall – Tuvkhun Khiid – Kharkhorin – Ulaanbaatar
Travel Days: 10 days / 9 nights We are pleased that you visit us to learn about the nomadic life in Mongolia. The Mongolians have lived for 3000-4000 years as nomads. Even todaymost Mongolians live as nomads in the country. They live in gers (yurts).
The ger is ideally suited to the the extremely continental climate and the nomadic life of the people. This multi-purpose dwelling may be easily disassembled, transported and re-erected.
The device was developed by the nomads in ancient times and is still used today, although in recent decades is a trend towards sedentary accommodations.
The device is optimally adapted to the nomadic life. To transport a yurt only one camel is required. The furniture is transported by 2-3 other cargo animals.
The number of walls and poles determine the size of a ger. Most of the nomadic gers have 5 walls and have a floor space of 16-18 square meters.
Our intention is, to bring you close to the Mongolian culture, religion, food and drinks. The goal of this trip is that you can build and disassemble a device by yourself. If you learn these historical skills with us, this is an unforgettable experience. We have made two lattice grate wall gers extra for this trip.
